October 2023

Dear New Lebanon Community,

I write this letter with the goal of telling you about a wonderful program that benefits several
families in our local New Lebanon community. This program is called “The BackPack program.” This
program provides 30 backpacks full of food for children and their families on weekends when school
breakfasts and lunches aren’t available.

As a district we partner with the Regional  Food Bank of Northeastern  New  York.  The foodbank
helps    us organize  and gather the food. This program is completely  self funded by our New
Lebanon  community.   Families,  community members,  and businesses  make  donations  to this
program. It costs our community $8,190 a year to support 30 families in our community with a full
backpack of food most weekends.

Throughout the year we will be working on fundraising projects so that we can continue this
opportunity for our families in the future. It is our community’s goal to raise an additional
$8,190 to support the backpack program for next school year. The Northeastern Food Bank is
accepting donations from the community to continue this service to our students and their families
in need.

Did You Know??
It costs $273 to support one child for the year.
